About

I’m Dontae Kerr. I design digital products and the automation behind them, and I photograph people. I live in Brampton, in the Greater Toronto Area.

I co-founded Team DCT, a small studio, in 2022. I design websites, web apps and customer journeys, and the automation that runs behind them: I decide how each one should work and feel, write the brief, and review every build until it does.

I started taking photographs in 2022 and have shot paid portraits and headshots since 2023. My own concept shoots are where I try ideas first: masks, set pieces, characters.

I’m also making short films that grow out of my photographs. They will be shown here once they are finished.

I’m open to full-time, part-time and contract work in digital products, web content, automation and photography, remote or in person across the Greater Toronto Area, and to creative collaborations. Businesses can also hire me for a project.

Experience

Brampton, Ontario. 2022 to present

  • Design websites, web apps and customer journeys, from the brief to the release.
  • Design the automation behind them, including the rules for what runs on its own and what waits for a person.
  • Set acceptance criteria before each build, review every result, and write down each correction for the next round.
  • Recent work: Brampton Civic Signal, Another Level and Lead Recovery Command Center.

Portrait photographer, independent

Brampton, Ontario. 2022 to present

  • Paid portrait and headshot sessions since 2023: booking, shoot direction, editing and delivery. See the headshots and portraits.
  • Concept, editorial and fashion shoots, including self-portraits. See the creative portraits.

How I work

  • I write the brief and what “done” means before anything is built.
  • AI coding agents do the implementation. Each one works on its own copy of the code, with written limits on what it may change, and nothing goes public without my approval.
  • I review every build at phone and desktop size and send it back until it works the way it should.
  • When a rule gets skipped, I turn it into a check that stops the action, so it holds the next time.
